What causes subluxations and SI joint dysfuction?

As an expecting mother progresses through the pregnancy, biomechanics of the body change and weight is shifted to different parts of the body.  Shifts in weight/motion can often cause parts of the spine and pelvis to become subluxated or misaligned.

Why is it important to get sacral subluxations adjusted?

Sacral subluxations may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia). The ICPA states that “Sacral misalignment may contribute to three primary causes of dystocia via uterine nerve interference, pelvic misalignment and the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments.  The resulting tense muscles and ligaments and their aberrant effect on the uterus may prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth.”  The correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.

What do Daylight Savings Time and a Chiropractic Adjustment have in common?  Both give you more LIGHT – get it!  The primary purpose of Chiropractic is to locate and correct Subluxations.  If you break the word down you get: SUB = less, LUX = light, and ATION = a condition.

Subluxation literally means a state of less ‘light‘ or energy caused when misaligned spinal bones (especially the Atlas and Axis) restrict the flow of impulses through the nerve system.  A Chiropractic Adjustment corrects this misalignment, eases pressure off nerves and extends the time Life energy streams through you – giving you more daylight to heal yourself.

When you receive an adjustment from your Chiropractor, be confident your innate healing ‘light’ is shining brighter and longer with every session.  Life springs forward when you’re under regular Chiropractic care.

If you dropped a heavy brick on your foot, what’s the first thing you need to do to start the healing?

Question: If you drop a heavy brick on your foot, what’s the first thing you need to do to start the healing?  Answer:  Get the brick off your foot!  Sounds simple, but it’s true.  Your foot CAN’T heal until the offending pressure is removed first.  The same principle applies to your Chiropractic care.

A misaligned vertebrae (Subluxation) acts like a brick on a nerve – creating compression, pain and inflammation.  Healing starts only when the offending pressure can be removed and kept off the nerve with sequential adjustments.  But don’t expect instant relief.  Removing the pressure is simply the first step in a timely process.

If you don’t feel great immediately after an adjustment, don’t be discouraged.  With a clear Nerve System and time, damaged tissues can heal and you’ll feel like new again.  For now, be confident the healing process has at least started because the brick has been removed.
